Be wary of the native speaker

A lot of people who study Japanese are excited to have a native source on hand to confirm or explain some of the trickier bits of language. Whether it’s a Japanese husband, wife, friend, or co-worker, we’re often eager to test out our second language on them, but they might not be as reliable of a source as we think.
